March 2009 - Pope meeting with Youths - Registration
The
Diocesan Youth Commission (KDZ) is accepting registrations from youth aged
14 to 35 who would like to attend the Pope meeting with youth on Sunday 18th
April at the Valletta Waterfront. Youth are asked to register through the

Standardization of Machinery and Equipment
M.
Ellul represented the AAE at the Annual meeting on Standardization of
Machinery and Equipment on the 14 and 15 September 2009. This event gave
the opportunity to transfer national trade union knowledge to the European
Trade Union Institute (ETUI). Guests exchanged good OHSA practices and
ideas about harmonization of standards. Locally, a technical committee has
still to be set up within the Malta Standards Authority, regarding
aviation technical expertise. This technical committee would ensure that
all products used, meets the essential standards of Health and Safety
requirements of European legislation and policies.
AAE members are encouraged to provide any
ideas on this issue to M. Ellul.

AEI Conference 2009
Stefan
Grech and Philip Vela represented the AAE in this year's conference held
in Varna, Bulgaria. The whole report is in the Member's area.

July2009 - AAE BBQ - 28th July 09
The AAE is
organizing a BBQ for all members and partners at:
Corinthia San Gorg Hotel, St. Julians
Tuesday 28th July at 20:00 hrs
As usual the AAE is subsidizing the cost of each attendee.

May 2009 - H1N1 for Unions - 25 May 09
On 25th May, the
AAE was invited to attend to a presentation with regards to the H1N1 Virus
(Swine Flu)
held
at the MCC. Our President Stefan Grech and Michael
Ellul attended
this meeting.
The meeting was very useful and informative, and anyone interested in the
presentation will find it in the Members Area (General).

On 6th May, the AAE Committee will hold the
8th AGM for all the union members as

March 2009 - Utility Tariffs - Letter from unions to MPs
On the 10th March 2009, 11 unions presented a
letter to the MPs with regards the utility tariffs. See Members Area

February 2009 - Air Malta's 35th Anniversary
On the 35th anniversary of Air
Malta
(10th Feb), the Company is organizing a Family Day. We have been
asked by HR to circulate an invitation to all our members (Air
Malta
only). See members area for the Programme and the organised employee
games.

Government
Counter proposal for Utility rates
Following various meetings held between
Malta's Unions and the Government with regards the utility tariffs,
counterproposals were submitted. A copy of this is found in the
Members Area.

November 2008 - AEI Conference 2008
The AEI Conference 2008 was held in
Sweden. Mr P. Vella and Mr. A. Muscat represented AAE. The
agenda, report as well as the AEI Secretary report can be downloaded from
the Members Area. The Report refers to a number of other documents
which are not found in this site. If required, contact the above
mentioned attendees or someone from the committee so as they can provide
you with a copy.

June - AAE Banquet Style BBQ
The AAE is
organizing a Banquet Style BBQ for all members and partners at:
Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana
Wednesday 9th July 2008 at 20:00 hrs
Although the cost of the event is 30 euro per
person, the AAE is subsidizing the cost of each attendee by 18 euro.
Hence the cost per attendee will only be at 12 euro each.
Interested members in attending are to
contact their Section Rep, committee member of Albert Muscat by the 30th
June.

February 2008 - Collective Agreement between AMC and AAE is signed.
On 17th December 2007, the Collective
Agreement was signed between the company and the AAE Union. The copy
of the agreement is in the Members Area.
11th
December 2007 - Latest Draft and Changes of the Collective Agreement
Following the EGM held on the 10th &
11th, the latest draft of the Collective Agreement as well as the final
changes has been uploaded in the Members Area. Voting to be held on
Wednesday between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm.

December 2007 - EGM on CA draft
On the 10th & 11th, an EGM was organised
at the Catholic Institute, Floriana (5pm) for all AAE members working at
Air Malta to discuss the Collective Agreement draft as agreed with KM.

give feedback in order that the committee will know which direction to

3 sections have been opened. One
involves a World Cup competition and the other two are related to two
particular events, last Year's Xmas Party and the Engineering Football

Policy Documents
The Air Malta Company Policy documents, which
are available on the AMC Staff site (but not available to the net) are now
available in the Members Area
12th May 06 - VRS
The VRS has now been officially released by Air Malta.
A copy can be found in the Members Area.
Members Area / Message Board
The Members Area and Message Board has been opened for quite some time
now. It is highly recommended that the members register in the
Message Board and put in their views/opinions in a number of forums.
The main scope of the web-site is so as there will be more or better
communication between the committee and the union's members. Hence.
without the members input, the committee will not be able to
function as efficiently as it is intended. Please contact a
committee member in order to be given access to the Members Area.
Another amendment in the Members Area is the
downloadable files. These have now been divided into 4 categories,
one that is Generic to all the Union, one specifically for AMC, another
for LTM and the last for the executive committee members only (which are
password protected).
CRC
Reps
Frans Bugeja has been re-appointed by the
committee to represent the union at the CRC and Works Council. Frans
Bonnici has resigned in order to concentrate on union business and John
Borg Costanzi is now the new CRC substitute for AAE. He will be
taking a very active role in the CRC/WC.
5th AGM
On 6th April 2006, AAE held its 5th AGM at the Catholic
Institute,
Floriana at 5:30pm. Committee elections were held. New
members in the committee are C. Azzopardi (secretary) , M.Spiteri (PRO), A. Muscat
(Treasurer) and L.
Caruana (Support Rep) instead of P. Vella, J. Filletti, D. Bellizzi and J. Cassar.
FOR.U.M Elections.
The FOR.U.M members have elected a President and a vice President.
Since the elections a number of important meetings have been held. See
Members Area for such minutes and further details.
Joe Cassar and Dominic
Bellizzi were the main reps for AAE vis-a-vis the FOR.U.M. Since these two
are no longer in the committee following the last AGM, Albert Muscat and
Carlo Galea are now the new representatives.
